If you’d like, you can now watch my 2010 NYU thesis film, ”Bowling Balls,” online. Synopsis: Shawn and Munkis, two teenagers from Bayonne, New Jersey attempt to steal “The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls,” an unpublished short story by author J. D. Salinger, from Princeton University.

Drove six hours both ways to see Ozma this weekend. They played with the Rentals, and as a bonus, Joyce Manor played next door before their set. Really fun night.

To anyone that follows me on this website:
I strongly suggest you download and listen to this four song EP by the band Altamont Union entitled Battlegorge: Zai. My first band in high school played our first show ever with Altamont Union at the Unity Skateshop in Livermore, California in December 2004. I received said EP on that day and have listened to it consistently for seven years since. It is just as exciting and innovative today as it was when I heard it so long ago.

Goodbye LA, you were pretty awesome

Could not be more excited for this Friday. The Movielife is the first band I discovered on my own, in seventh grade, when I was randomly browsing mp3.com. They were the band that made me realize there was more out there than Blink 182, Green Day and Weezer. This Time Next Year was the first record I owned on vinyl. I bought it from Hot Topic in 2001 because I thought it was a calendar. I only saw them once, a few months before they broke up, when they played in San Jose. I was so upset when they announced their break up, that for a month I would come home from school, put a burned CD of all their songs in my walkman and ride my bike around my neighborhood for hours listening to it. I skipped the last day of class my freshman year of college and took a train out to Merrick, Long Island because 4 of the 5 members were playing a show together in various bands and there was a rumored reunion. Didn’t happen. I almost got arrested trying to sneak into a 21+ show at the Canal Room when Vinnie played acoustic for the first time. Despite all the awful bands that claim them as an influence, The Movielife is still my favorite melodic hardcore / hardcore / pop-punk band and I’m really excited to see them.

Brooks Plummer sent me some records

Yo dude,

Shipped these out today.

I sent it out the longest possible route, so it’s going by boat from New York tomorrow, sailing to South Africa hitting both the North and South Poles on the way, docking in Johannesburg where a runner is going to run it on foot up to Egypt, then from there it’s scheduled to go with an illegal weapons shipment to Pakistan, where it’s going to meet up with a camel to take it through India to the Indian Ocean where it’ll meet up with ANOTHER boat (a personal sailboat of a 13 year old girl trying to become the youngest person to sail across the Pacific Ocean alone), and she’s landing in San Francisco, where it’ll meet back up with the USPS and they’ll drop it off in Pleasanton.

Forgot to mention that that shipping method only cost about 20 cents of the $10 you sent, so dinner’s on you tonight, sucker!!
